Happy Thanksgiving to all! The year is coming to a close, and I could not be more thankful for family, friends, and of course my fountain pen journey. This was the year that I really fell in love with FPs, and inks, and also the year Hippo Noto was born. So much to be thankful for, and I hope I can share that sentiment with you at the end of this entry, with a Thanksgiving Giveaway of the ink reviewed and also a Nock Co. Lookout in the first colorway that I just had to have!

Lets begin! I chose to review and give away Jacques Herbin 1798 Amethyste de l’Oural for several reasons, the first is of course that I love purple ^_^, the second because shine is amazing, the third and least predictable answer is that a J. Herbin shimmer ink brought me back into the fountain pen fold. The ink was Emerald of Chivor and it came in a very similar bottle. A bit of nostalgia.

The cardboard packaging is different from E of C, in the way that it is plain, without all the cool doodles.

Click for a quick tour around the packaging! The bottle itself is basically identical to E of C, except of course with a purple wax seal instead of a teal.

For this review I decided to ink up my Bungubox Sailor Vega and Altair – B Nib. I don’t quite trust shimmers in non C/C pens, and thought that this pen would be a lovely match for the ink with the shimmer body and raden cap.

For this review I am trying something a bit different from my usual journal entry, using more description 🙂

The ink had a medium flow in this B nib, the shimmer particles had a really nice distribution. I shook the bottle but didn’t roll the pen at any point when I picked it up after it being at rest. I have had a lot of issues in the past with shimmer inks hard starting or clogging but none of that was present here.

The ink itself is gorgeous, its a royal purple with shimmer AND sheen!

Watch it dry into a galaxy ^_^

Silver shimmer and golden sheen…almost like Dark Lilac if they threw shimmer into the mix? This is one of the most well behaved shimmer inks I have ever tried, and one I will continue to use. The bottle is beautiful as well, and who doesn’t need a few more cool inkwells around?

Now for the fun! The giveaway! Please note that this giveaway will be open all weekend, so please enjoy time with family if you’re together. Perhaps this can be something to do while the cozy grip of turkey-induced sleep closes in ^_^. See link to enter and for all the info.
