Aurora Blue/Black Review

My blog usually consists of pinks, purples, and Sailor inks, so when I was offered the chance to review a darker, Italian, and unreleased ink I jumped at the chance!  Huge thank you to Kenro Industries for providing this bottle for review.  I feel honored to have been entrusted with the task ^_^

This is the first Aurora ink that I have tried, so in trying this ink I had no idea what to expect.

The ink bottle came in a glossy cardstock type box.

The bottle comes in an interesting quantity, 45ML which I have never seen before.  For this review I decided to ink up my trusty Pelikan M805 Stresemann F Nib.  It is a wet writer and looks like it would suit a dark ink.

Ink Blob:

The ink has a great flow, and just look at that sheen!  It really dresses up a darker color like this.  The sheen even comes out in normal writing with a fine nib.  An unexpected characteristic was the sort of tarry quality on the ink blob.  It reminded me of the stickiness Diamine Majestic blue has, but this ink is nowhere near as sticky with normal writing and has a decent dry time.  The ink blob above has been sitting for a day and still has that wet look, as if the TR couldn’t take it all in.

While I was writing I was reminded of Montblanc JFK, so I decided to delve a little deeper with some comparisons.  I went with Montblanc JFK and Ishida Bungu Hakodate Twilight accompanied by other members of my flock ^_^

Aurora Blue/Black is a lot more of a sheen monster than Montblanc JFK, with a lot more overall saturation too.  In my mind it is a true Blue/Black.  It doesn’t sheen as much as Hakodate Twilight, but I can see Aurora Blue/Black being used for a wider range of writing.  School, business, pleasure, a great everyday ink.  I generally try to stay colorful, but the sheeny goodness of this ink and the awesome behavior will make this my go to “dark” ink.

I had so much fun doing this review, I wish my writing desk looked like this every night ^_^
