In this age of technology, I constantly feel myself being pulled between analog and digital. This is increasingly true for writing.
The Lineup
- Apple iPad Pro
- Apple Pencil
- Apple Watch
- Apple Smart Keyboard
- Maruzen Athena Eternal Blue Ink
- Montblanc Starwalker 100 Years
- Pelikan Souveran M805 Stresemann
- Ink Journal
- Montblanc Jazz Blue Ink
- Pelikan Souveran M400 Tortoiseshell
- Pilot Namiki Vanishing Point Raden
- Visconti Rembrandt Merry-Go-Round
- Chanel J12 38MM Diamond Bezel
- Seven Seas Writer Notebook
It is so convenient to switch my iPad on and start writing away, but there is just something about how it feels when a fountain pen nib hits the smooth surface of tomoe paper that keeps me coming back. For lack of a better word, it is satisfying.
There is also something to be said of the acquisition of a new pen. To me it is infinitely more exciting than buying a new ipad or phone, and its easier to find motivation to collect pens year round, where as I usually keep the same iPad until the new model comes out. Not necessarily an Apple fangirl, I use a PC and a Surface Pro, but I find myself reaching for my Apple accessories more often.
The jury is still out on whether I enjoy my Apple Watch or Chanel J12 more…I think I will always keep both around.
Changing the color on a digital device is also not as satisfying as those inky fingers ^_^
And pen mail! What could be more exciting?
I leave you with a few more photos of the lineup and a photo of a chance vet encounter with our new puppy’s real life sister! What a blessed holiday season.

Dogs are fully analog and they have fun all the time 🙂 Sure digital is much more convenient but my observation is that when I make a draft of the text by hand it’s always better than drafts / texts typed on computer. Also, I just enjoy analog writing 🙂

Sadly this trip to the vet wasn’t fun for our baby, he had to get a vaccine and my heart broke to hear that yelp! I think my husband is going to have to go alone next time lol.
I totally know what you mean about writing coming out better analog. I like to get the story down on paper and then go back and add in the tedious details digitally. I think the creative process flows much better in ink ^_^

I was sucked into the Apple ecosystem just as badly as I was into the rabbit hole of fountain pens. The former made me realise there were days, sometimes weeks, when I never pick up a pen (fountain pens opened a whole new world in June this year). All my devices are Apple, except my watch that’s from the grocery store.
Thanks to the various online fountain pen forums, I’ve found a nice balance between my analogue and digital life.

I love the Apple Ecosystem!!!! I use a PC as my main computer but I find I am mostly on my peripherals. I hardly go on my iPad anymore though unless I am blogging about FPs lol! Just something so amazing about having a pen in hand. Perhaps it’s because computer type doesn’t sheen? 😍🖋

LOL right … no sheen on the screen 😉
There’s a small, Canadian pen store in Toronto, they post ink samples to Instagram most every day. I don’t know how they do it … whether it’s the light or what, but they actually manage to make the sheen show in pictures!

Oh wow! I have been trying to take better photos of ink, it’s really an art! Especially when trying to capture that sheen. The review I am working on now is actually about a sheen monster. Hoping the photos can do it some justice 😍💙
